Introduction

About Life Coaching

  • Life coaching is a relationship between a client and a coach that is designed to facilitate the creation and development of the client’s personal goals. The relationship is also designed to develop strategies to carry out a plan for achieving those goals. I understand that coaching is typically about current life choices and planning for my future, not about repairing or uncovering my past.

  • Life coaching involves all areas of life, including work, finances, health, relationships, education and leisure. I acknowledge that deciding how to handle these issues and implement my choices is exclusively my responsibility.

  • Life coaching does not treat mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association. Life coaching is not a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care, or substance abuse treatment, and is not to be used in place of any form of therapy.

  • Coaching can involve brainstorming, values clarification, the completion of written assignments, education, goal-setting, identifying plans of action, accountability, making requests, agreements to change behavior, examining lifestyles, and checking assumptions.

  • Coaching is most effective when both parties are honest and straightforward in their communication.

  • Virtual coaching is most effective when both parties have cameras on during the session.

Coaching Modality and Communication Methods

  • A coaching session can be booked on the coaching website by client or added by Salt and Light Coaching staff at the client’s request (via email, text, or voice message).

  • A confirmation email with a virtual meeting room link within the message is sent to the email address provided by client. It is highly recommended that client confirms receipt of the confirmation by RSVP’ing to the calendar invitation in the email. Typically, a reminder email is sent to client prior to the session, barring any technical issues.

  • Both client and coach use the virtual meeting room link to connect online at the date and time of the scheduled session or by phone if prior arrangements have been made.

  • Virtual coaching sessions are not recorded. Any applicable phone or additional charges related to a coaching call or virtual meeting are incurred and absorbed by the client. Salt and Light Coaching is not responsible for the technical issues related to a virtual coaching session that client might experience.

  • In-person coaching sessions are made by exception and with advance notice for appointment setting in an agreed upon public space.
